this collection tries to capture that feeling of lying in the grass
in a park
staring at the sky
fantasizing about your love (if they even exist)
playing out different paths
while smoke from your cigarette (jazz or otherwise)
trails between you and the faraway of everything
feeling grateful to not have to be anywhere
but here (now)

with luck
they lay next to you
and silently you appreciate each tick of the clock
wasted together
until life again gets in the way
and pulls you back
into the fray
