"The Yoni Project" is part of the live outdoor art installation - 'Computational Convergence' at India Art Fair, held from 9-12 February 2023 in New Delhi.
'Yoni' - a Sanskrit word referring to the female reproductive organ, is often used as a symbol of the goddess and the source of life in various Indic Religions and other ancient cultures. It is one of the most sacred icons of the Hindu Shaktism tradition, with historic arts and temples dedicated to it.
'The Yoni Project' aims to pay homage to this divine feminine concept of Shakti, the embodiment of energy, power, and creativity.
NOTE: All artist royalties will be donated to Rangeen Khidki Foundation which is a youth-led feminist organization based in Kolkata. They focus on sexual and reproductive health and rights for adolescents and youth, as well as working with stakeholders such as parents, teachers, and civil organizations from marginalized backgrounds. The organization's focus is on gender justice and human rights, utilizing a pleasure affirmative lens to promote gender equality ,inclusion and diversity.
