sgraffito is a collection of 500 compositional NFTs, made up of PNG layers, including some with composite blending.



I wanted to take something simple (a square) and play with it in a way that both brought chaos and beauty to it.  The images needed to all look part of a collection (as well as the use of squares there is a fixed color pallete), but be truly unique and vary from minimalist to full chaos. The idea was that the final images  would all be visual representations of life – nothing is straightforward, there are moments of breakthrough, there are hard frantic bits, there is joy, sadness and love. We all experience this in different measures, but we all  are still left with the same thing:  a messy, but beautiful life.



There are eight possible layers that make up the images in the collection with every image containing at least the background, plus two color blocks + sgraffito – the rest appear at random to create more rare combinations + unique effects, including three layers with composite blending.



The sgraffito layers were created using PINTR from original images I created and then added as PNG layers.

I love the serendipity and surprise of generative art, which is why I focus on building small generative collections. I tried to build that element of surprise in this collection too.
