Inspired both directly and indirectly by Vera Molnar’s comparisons between an artist’s intuition and a computers ability to randomize, Segment is a linear, time-based exploration of stroke-like behaviors, mimicking the intuition of an artist through a range of technique & material studies.

On the basis of this, the artwork places between 20 & 2000 points at which the drawing begins, changing directions uniformly or chaotically, with fixed intervals. There are 9 different color palettes, which may or may not be combined over the course of this linear work.

The artwork is designed to be contained within a rectangle, with the possibility of outbreaks as it edges towards the end.

Segment begins, and it ends. The primary exploration happens in between.
