What is Refactor?

Refactor is a generative art series based on making noise with shapes while continuously rewriting the code to make it more clear and efficient. My ultimate goal was to add more variety to my generative art collections, improve my use of color, and create a work of art that the community will enjoy.

What was learned?

Rewriting code is similar to wiping off a failed oil painting. Sometimes it’s better to start over rather than waste time struggling to save what is destined to fail. The code for this token was re-written 3 times and can still be improved. Overall, I’m very pleased with the outputs and even more pleased with the knowledge and skills I developed throughout the creative process.

I learned how to create reusable custom functions for generating noise and adding borders. I also learned to construct custom shapes and overlays. Lastly, I now understand how to add rarity traits making this my first token to feature them. Good luck on minting a rare edition!

Why is there a Red Dot in the bottom corner?

The red dot is my signature for this series. It’s a shoutout to my first fxHash project titled “Red Dot”. I will continue to utilize red dots as a signature design element in future work.
