Piastrelle is the Italian word for tiles, one of the oldest forms used for decorative art. They’ve been treasured for centuries due to their durability and stunning beauty, as embellishing touches both inside and outside of buildings of all types.

Examples of beautiful tile work can be found in mosaics, murals and more from the oldest civilizations to the present day. Ancient Egyptians, Assyrians, Babylonians, Chinese, Romans and Greeks favoured decorative tiles, and nowadays a wealth of amazing and varied floor and wall tile designs exist to suit all tastes.

This artwork attempts to dialogue with the ancient practice of tiles ornamentation, presenting fragments of tiled surfaces from an extinct civilization of the future, which once had their buildings decorated in all its glory.
