Phyllotactic spirals form a distinctive class of patterns in nature, in general, the arrangement of leaves on a plant stem or the pattern of seeds on the face of a sunflower. This patterning can be generated via a mathematic algorithm.

I am inspired by the images of the Webb telescope and the images of the colorized infrared data it obtains. That color in man made. PhyllotacticGalaxies employs this algorithm to simulate spatial phenomena. I hope you enjoy this interpretation of colliding galaxies in the far reaches of outer space.

Three layers of sets of 4 phyllotactic spirals are generated. Each "galaxy's" characterstics are modified by random variables: number of elements, size, translation, color and opacity. The interactions of shapes and color are cosmic and profound. Occasionally I am remoinded of Van Gogh's "Starry Nights."
