Pastoral Palettes
IPFS
2 May 2022•TEZOS•IPFS
Pastoral Palettes showcases 93 beautiful hand tuned palettes in a generative pastoral setting. The palettes themselves pay homage to great paintings from the past up to the present. Isolating the palettes in this way brings out the artistic genius of the underlying artwork in a unique way. The palette name in the features contains the painting and artist.
The algorithmic parts of Pastoral Palettes use many techniques to create the scene and generate the ground, sky, trees, and shrubbery. Using random perlin noise for the placement ensures a more natural looking scene. The sky is a gradient composed from the palette. Each blade of grass is drawn individually using perlin noise to create the color pattern in the grass. Each tree and shrub is randomly constructed and colored using color blending in the transition colors. The grass generation is the most computationally expensive and the density can be adjusted with the arrow keys, see below.
The mint size is relatively small in relation to the number of palettes, so to ensure that all palettes get generated at least once, we are including 2 palettes for each mint.
Each mint of Pastoral Palettes comes with sunlight and moonlight views, toggled with the 'f' key. The palettes look strikingly different for each view - you can choose which one you like best.
Variations:
- Each palette has an equal chance of being minted. Since the mint size is so small compared to the number of palettes, there is a high chance of getting a rare palette.
- 2% chance of getting 5 palettes instead of the default of 2.
- 10% chance of getting a sun/moon in the sky.
- Each layout will be entirely unique.
Pastoral Palettes is responsive and looks great on any size display. They look especially good on large displays of 2K, 4K, and even 8K.
'f' flips between sunlight and moonlight views.
'p' cycles through the palettes.
's' saves an image in the exact size of the current display.
'up/down arrow' adjusts the grass density. Denser grass may look better at some resolutions, but takes considerably longer to render, particularly on large displays.

Programmer and entrepreneur. Been programming forever, all in on web3 and NFTs. Love generative art, using Processing and TouchDesigner for a while now. fxhash is amazing for artists and collectors.
