This project is based on handmade sketches. It aims at reproducing hatching techniques.

The number, the size, the rotation and the placement of the squares are decided according to a noise variable. The squares may also be outlined.

The bigger the division is, the smaller the shapes are.

Each ocean of shapes is sketched on a sheet of paper, which is then coloured with sponge or roller paint. This paper is finally placed in the centre of the canvas but not necessarily aligned vertically.
