Minimal Surfaces

27 December 2021TEZOSIPFS

Minimal surfaces, a gyroid in this case, are mathematical surfaces that minimize their area given a fixed perimeter. Because nature is all about 'being as efficient as possible' minimal surfaces aren't just theoretical, they show up in real life as well. Soap bubbles are an example of a minimal surface. In this set I explore the different looks you can get from the amazing Gyroid surface by looking at cross sections of the structure.

My name is Martijn Steinrucken and I'm an artist/coder/geek. I run the Art of Code YouTube channel where I teach people the ins and outs of shader coding.
