Data on the drug war in Brazil:

The prohibition of marijuana in Brazil came with the persecution of rituals and customs of the black people, who used marijuana at various important times in their culture. It was said that marijuana was introduced by enslaved blacks, as being a revenge of the "subjugated race" for the theft of their freedom, aimed the cannon of prejudice against the use of marijuana in religious rituals and warned that the herb served to "produce hallucinations and excite the movements in the wild dances of these noisy meetings."

According to data from the Information System of the National Penitentiary Department (SISDEPEN), in 2020 66% of Brazilian prison population is black or brown, and 21.22% is between 18 and 24 years old. Of these 41.5% are provisional detainees awaiting trial.

Drug trafficking is linked to 65% of the arrests of women in Brazil, and 68% of these women are black. Data from IBGE shows that 54% of the Brazilian population is black, showing how the war on drugs has a main target.

Today, there are many studies about the use of marijuana, yet Brazil continues the persecution and imprisonment of the poor population in detriment of a hygienist and fascist war. Feeding a whole narco industry that goes from the high levels of government to the corrupt police officer who enters the favela to rob and kill.
