Legado (2022)

I asked my mother, not that long ago, about her grandmothers. She told me that both were seamstresses and that they sustained their families with their craft.
She also told me that my grandmother used to make clothes for her and her siblings when they were kids.

My mother herself, used to sew her own clothes when she was younger. The connection of these women with their craft, self-care and nurture are strong in me.

Out of this legacy, Legado is born. A red and white series of crafted lines that express the process of integrating this legacy with my own craft, self-care, and nurture.

There is another layer to the project. Red and white are the colors of my home country, Peru. As I became an immigrant some years ago, Legado also relates to the process of expanding my awareness and the sense of what I call home.
