I have long meant to do a piece inspired by the covers of the famous (to the sort of people that like Dutch electronic music from the 1950s) Philips "Popular Electronics" 7" records. Yesterday I finally sat down and did one. "intersection" takes as its source material the cover art of the first record in the set, "Electronic Music," which is a split single by Tom Dissevelt and Kid Battan. You can listen to it on YouTube if you are curious. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6T-jZUHcI8 and it's a banger!)

Rather than recreating the cover art directly, I just briefly looked at it (I have the real vinyl records, because I'm the sort of person that has strange things like that) to wedge it in my brain, and then didn't look at it again. As a result, my piece has the "feel" of the record cover, but doesn't actually look like it at all. This is a satisfying result for me.
