Inner Color

- Collection of Physiological Inner Colors -

Let’s look at the gray dot in the bottom box, and then look up at the top gray dot after a while. A floating inverted spectrum appears above that complements the colors below. These are optically complementary colors. I used 3 base colors for the experiment and gray, black and white (which are not colors). So we have 40 different colors and also their combinations which blend into 14 types of backgrounds with 5 types of gray dots.

It is a unique illustration with custom combinations, the color theory inspired by Goethe's Theory of Colorus and J.Itten's The elements of colors.
Here we can also examine many different phenomena and types of contrast. Gray squares can also be observed to change their tone value as a result of ambient colors.

The higher the contrast, the more vivid the inner colors and the longer they last.
This way, the complementary color of a color can be accurately determined (most on gray background).

I have also observed, thanks to this experiment, that if we look at the colored background, the inner light, the inverted spectrum also changes due to the color of the background. So it is not only the environment in which the inner color arrives that matters, but also the environment from which it starts. The yellow color of the lower background makes the inner light warm, while with the white background the inner color stays colder compared to the previous one in the upper part.
