Impure Spiders

"The Department of Military Experimental Biotechnology on planet Uctumi has announced that spiders designed to combat the Alienpillars plague are ready for deployment. The Impure Spiders are genetically modified and nanotechnology-enhanced arachnids and are expected to be the final solution to this serious crisis after the failure of pesticides."
The sequel to Alienpillars. For this work I used a mixed technique with shaders and line drawing in p5.js A first pass sets the main raymarching shader in data output mode, and encodes the surface data which is then used in p5.js to draw the lines in realtime. This hair layer is then combined with a second pass in normal shading mode. Another post-processing pass applies the bloom effect and draws the frame.
Everything is generated by code. Drag mouse to rotate the camera.
Notes:
- It is CPU and GPU intensive. It can run slow on low end machines and is not meant to be run on mobile devices.
- Part of this project uses modified code from "Verlet Spider!" shader at Shadertoy website. Thanks to Dave Hoskins for allowing me to use it.
- I would like to thank the guys at GNFTS Discord server for all the support during the coding sessions on the cowork voice channel.
