Digital Circles

[All pieces are best enjoyed when playing the animation!]
To me, a circle is the perfect mathematical shape. However, on a screen, a circle cannot be shown exactly. Due to the pixels on the screen, it is always an approximation of a circle. This approximation is perfectly fine when a single circle is shown at a normal scale. However, when multiple concentric circles approach each other, with large pixels, trippy and intricate patterns emerge.
This discovery is the inspiration for this art collection and can be seen in pieces with method “A”. The other methods are created in ways that are remarkably similar and range up to method “I”. In each method, there are internal parameters ensuring that every piece is unique. Also, the colour palette ranges from black and white to bright colours.
I tried to make every animation start at a comfortable speed. However, due to the difference in rendering power between different devices and browsers, the settings may not be perfect for you. To solve this issue, the following functions have been added:
- Press “w” to speed the animation up
- Press “s” to slow the animation down
- Press right to skip through the animation
- Press left to rewind the animation
- Press up to zoom out
- Press down to zoom in
- Press space to pause the animation
- Press “p” to save a 4K screenshot of the animation
Enjoy!
