Coded Cosmos

At the edge of the universe, a powerful entity kick-starts the accretion of a future planet. The humanoid entity is a builder of worlds who channels a cosmic energy, commanding it to bring into being a primitive form. From dust, the entity makes rock, then mountains, then . . . a world.

The planet’s birth will be quick, but its future will extend into the eons to bring forth other entities, who may, one day, seek out dust at the edge of its universe to begin the cycle anew.

Coded cosmos is an exquisitely designed spacescape created using p5.js. Several systems are married into layers of:
- multicolored stars.
- recursive clouds of gas and dust.
- a richly textured planet circled by thousands of thoughtfully distributed asteroids.
- a conglomerated asteroid in the foreground.
- a randomly posed, articulated, generative figure.
- Perlin light rays and flow field electric arcs.

All iterations contain a star field, planet, clouds and asteroids. Randomly selected iterations may contain:
- a randomly posed, generative figure.
- a conglomerated asteroid in the foreground.
- Perlin light rays along the figure’s vertical axis.
- flow field electric arcs extending from the center of the figure.
- Bonus edition: a red planet (1:100).

Created using p5.js with popular coding examples: perlin noise, flow fields and vectored ellipses, along with proprietary color palettes, stochastic procedures and other proprietary code by Ed Cavett.
