For NRW-Forum Düsseldorf in 2017, Manuel Rossner created his first digital extension to a real-world structure. It was a virtual reality experience. Visitors began their VR experience in the same place they had left off in the actual museum: the digital NRW-Forum. They then proceeded to enter the 84x92x57 meter digital expansion building by walking or teleporting there.

A common idea in computer graphics, dynamic metaballs, served as the basis for the design. An organic mesh is produced by merging several spheres. The virtual structure has the ability to change shape. Since it is a geo-located digital building, it defies gravity. A few of the structure's components hovered above the surface. Many new ways to create and experience exhibitions are available thanks to the responsive design of the digital extension. It refers to the 1950s Endless House by Friedrich Kiesler.

Rossner developed his 2022 fxhash collection CHANCE using a similar approach. The generative project CHANCE (NRW-Forum Düsseldorf Extension) was developed five years after the initial introduction of the digital extension building. The wide range of various animated shapes highlights the dynamics of the original structure and enables the spectator to experience it in real-time in the browser.
