Calligraphic Abstraction
IPFS
24 January 2023•TEZOS•IPFS
The "Calligraphic Abstraction" art series is a collection of abstract artworks that combine the style of abstract expressionism with the brushstrokes of Japanese calligraphy. The generative brushstrokes in the artworks are limited to the use of only red and black colors, creating a high contrast and dynamic compositions.
Abstract expressionism, with its emphasis on sweeping, expressive marks, and the spontaneous creation of art, is a perfect complement to the bold, expressive brushstrokes of Japanese calligraphy. The two styles share a common focus on the power of line and gesture, which makes them a natural fit when combined.
I have incorporated traditional Japanese seals into the artworks of this series to add a cultural and symbolic dimension to the pieces. These seals have been used in Japan for centuries to represent good fortune, prosperity, and well-being, and their inclusion in the series adds a deeper layer of meaning.
The Series consists of the following layers:
1. Three backgrounds (Kakejiku) – Jade, Tan & Blue
2. Twenty-two calligraphic abstracts (Shodō)
3. Three Japanese seals (Shīru) for Wealth, Health (rare) & Fortune (rarer)
4. Artist Signature (in Katakana). Signed copies are rarer.
I am grateful to be a part of the FXHash community and am excited to share my "Calligraphic Abstraction" series with it. I hope it brings you all good fortune, prosperity, and well-being.
