This piece comes from a 'bug' in processing java version.

I was working on grid and patterns and entered a negative value by accident in the rounded corner parameter of the square drawing function and the results were quite satisfying.

I kept work made from this bug as my personal laptop wallpaper for years, but sadly the bug got eventually fixed in processing. It never existed in p5js.

So I tried to reproduce the artifacts from this bug to recreate those artworks.

This piece is the genesis piece.
