"Axis Mundi," often referred to as the "world axis" or "cosmic axis," is a concept in mythology, religion, and philosophy that represents a central point of connection between Heaven, Earth, and the underworld. This axis is perceived as the universal center or pillar of the world, symbolically linking different realms and serving as a bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds. Many cultures visualize the Axis Mundi through symbols like trees (e.g., the Norse Yggdrasil), mountains, or architectural structures like temples or towers, which are seen as pathways for divine or cosmic energy to flow between realms.
In this project, I aimed to reference the concept of Axis Mundi through various elements. As can be seen, the cubes of different sizes and shapes are rotating on the three main spatial axes without colliding with each other.
It’s worth mentioning that part of the initial idea for this project, along with one of its color palettes, was inspired by the Ex Mobius project by Jason Dartford and has been incorporated and structured within the code.
