This work is an artistic investigation into the visual weight of colors and based on preliminary research results: Each piece is based on an analogous color harmony and displays a range of hues arranged around a single primary color, while the balancing algorithm varies the forms and the area coverage of the color fields and their respective brightness to keep the whole composition in visual balance.
In terms of color scheme, typography and design, the work is inspired by the International Typographic Style movement (Swiss Style), which was characterized by clarity, openness, a desire for democracy, a highly intellectual approach and the credo that design - and the designer himself - should take a "backseat" in the creation and even become "invisible". All of this, I believe, is also a very fitting description of the generative art scene.
The primary color in each piece is denoted by one out of 24 different color tables (some rarer than others), which cover the full 360° degree range of hues. Furthermore, there are three different grid sizes (3x3, 4x4 and 5x5), two positions for the typography (top and bottom) and four different paper stocks (coated cool white, uncoated cool while, uncoated warm white and newspaper).
The token is rendered in high resolution (4800x6000px) in the background, which allows for saving and printing in high quality up to a height of about 20" (50cm).
(Accalance 2 allows for interactions both with the keyboard and with the mouse wheel. See the description of the collected pieces for details.)
