This is the second series of my design study on Metabolist movement.

The series is a tribute to japanese industrial design from the post-war industrialization of the country. Architects of the era, -- known as the 'Metabolists'-- imagined structures made of modular blocks like the unfamous Nagakin tower in Tokyo. This series is inspired by architectural sketches of the time and the work of Japanese graphic designers from the 60s / 70s such as Yusaku Kamekura, recognizable by his concentric shapes.

Japanese architects called this movement Metabolism to draw parallels between cities and the living organisms that evolve in their lifetimes. The different elements have been animated to give a sensation of breathing specific to living beings.
