Transmutation - #HybridArt
written by TamasAntal
We're packed in light and stacked on top of each other.
This is a #Hybrydart. Hybrid art is a contemporary art movement in which artists work with frontier areas of science and emerging technologies. Artists work with fields such as biology, robotics, physical sciences, experimental interface technologies (such as speech, gesture, face recognition), artificial intelligence, and information visualization.
from GAN to hand-drawn
The term transmutation dates back to alchemy...
So, I made a generative Ai picture with Artbreeder two years ago. It uses Generative Adversarial Networks to make an image like this.
“Look at walls splashed with a number of stains, or stones of various mixed colours. If you have to invent some scene, you can see there resemblances to a number of landscapes, adorned with mountains, rivers, rocks, trees, great plains, valleys and hills, in various ways. Also you can see various battles, and lively postures of strange figures, expressions on faces, costumes and an infinite number of things, which you can reduce to good integrated form. This happens on such walls and varicoloured stones, (which act) like the sound of bells, in whose peeling you can find every name and word that you can imagine.
Do not despise my opinion, when I remind you that it should not hard for you to stop sometimes and look into the stains of walls, or the ashes of a fire, or clouds, or mud or like places, in which, if you consider them well, you may find really marvelous ideas. The mind of the painter is stimulated to new discoveries, the composition of battles of animals and men, various compositions of landscapes and monstrous things, such as devils and similar things, which may bring you honor, because by indistinct things the mind is stimulated to new inventions.”
― Leonardo da Vinci
Then I rewrote the final result with a special script to get a clear picture.
I also love this generative render's deep tones and colors. You can already see a lot of worlds in the picture, very deep perspectives emerge. Earlier I painted several images, where I was upgrading the Ai render continuing the style of the Ai. Now, however, I was looking for a cleaner and playful solution, so I started almost from scratch.
After that I started to use my imagination. I used to travel a lot by bus, tram and train, metro watching the stains of muddy shoes, crumbling plasters, landscapes, clouds and people.
I painted this with a special painting program & used an A5 Intuos.
Then I continued painting in Photoshop.
I don't remember why I deleted the plane :)
sound and animation
I put a Tascam recorder in the window of our apartment and recorded the noise of the city and made the animation.
I only added some cc, grain and hue animations, but pixelated everything to 6-bit.

Minted on Teia ( hic et nunc ) in 500 editions then I burnt the remnants.
physical NFT
I send it to the printing house where it was printed and I received a certificate that only 1 copy was made.
I've been using digital pen tools for more than 20 years... I'm used to it, but it's impossible to imitate the movements made with traditional tools. If I want, these are the most controlled movements. And the relationship of materials calls for the painting solutions, through the meeting of forms and the materialization of colors.
Fixing pixel noises and encounters, more details will be added.
While working closely, new dimensions emerge in the details.
The surface will still be treated.
the physical artwork itself may exist first or the digital
Both cases are very exciting. In the case of the Squatterz collection, an already created but non-existent thought plane takes physical form. The digital blueprint is like an abstract soul, an essence behind the product.
In this case, at the Lightessence collection, when an existing artefact is the NFT, we practically endow it with a kind of surplus. We can actually bring it to life and take it in a completely different direction or add a new approach.
This is how the NFT itself can be a link, a bridge between physical and digital art.
exhibition
Spoiler - The exhibition is being prepared :) in Budapest at Kubik. Group exhibition... details coming soon.
Huge thanks to the curator Julia Bacsek.
Round table discussion and NFT exhibition with Studio Provenance at Kubik Coworking
I talked about NFTs in general and also specifically about tezos NFTs.
The images will also have AR functions, which is available with the EyeJack application.
And finally the online auction started at Artotek - Fine Art Hungary NEXT.
The final high quality #1of1tezos will soon be available on the tezos profile of Squatterz.
Whoever owns the painting will also own the NFT.
Thank you for your attention, see you soon.
