The Art of Being a Different Artist
written by Akkrin
I can start by saying that following an artistic pattern or rule has never been a concise goal in my life as a visual creator. And since I ventured into digital art and then crypto art, endless possibilities have opened up to express my art without spending a single drop of paint and with greater freedom of action.
"The Encounter", my first project published on Fx(hash). April, 2022.
I have always been a rebel, and in art even more so. All imagination implies a lot of rebellion, untying oneself from so many schemes to please others and express what the heart really dictates. In each piece or collection there is no doubt that my rebellion is reflected, my desire to tell the world that everyone is unique, that there is a space available for anyone who wants to say things his way. That is why I identify myself as an eclectic artist.
I like the use of various techniques and styles in each piece or collections that will come to light, which are born with the purpose of giving a clear message: we are all and at the same time we are one. I have always thought that the traditional should never be lost, like those bases that formed great artists and that now constitute a solid legacy, an example to follow or simply create something different that becomes a new aesthetic trend.
I confess that the craft of writing, in Spanish, which is my native language, I have somewhat neglected because I have dedicated more desire and energy to digital art. In one of my latest projects at Fx Hash I alluded to the natural solitude in the creation of art, be it plastic, digital, sculpture or other branches such as music, dance, theater, writing; among many other forms of expression that have existed since the world began and man has been able to leave his traces on it, traces that are not erased with the passage of time, they will remain forever between the intricacies of today and tomorrow.
That natural solitude can be a blessing or sometimes a fight against oneself, because during creation an overwhelming whirlwind of ideas is usually generated from which the most optimal ones will be chosen to materialize that desire that still flutters in our restless minds. But this whole process requires being either silent or with something that accompanies you so as not to be distracted. With regard to the latter, I give myself as an example that when I dedicate myself to creating visual art it is customary for me to play music or a video on my tablet from some of the available streaming platforms. I have seen complete series sitting in front of the pc while creating. All this because I get scattered a lot if I don't have that anchor that keeps me on the ground, glued to my chair. However, when I write, as is the case in which I am narrating this, I require a lot of silence. And so it happens when I go to place the description of the projects, individual works or collections on the platforms where I have minted my art. It's true, every painter, writer, sculptor, filmmaker, musician, among others, has some hobby that makes them keep their balance in this world of unspoken madness. And being a cryptoartist doesn't make much difference, because natural loneliness is still present. And I know that for many that is understood, but mentioning it is not too much.
Regarding eclecticism in my art, abstractionism and minimalism have always been one of my favorite expressions. Although a precise time is used to create it as when other styles are handled, in abstractionism and minimalism I have managed to see the simplicity of things, figures and objects as something grandiose pressurized in certain elements that say millions of words more than what conceptual art can say, for example, that is interpreted in a very easy way in light of the perceptions generated by our visual sense. An apple painted in a painting is recognized as an apple. A blind man does not perceive it that way, but if they tell him and describe it to him, he will then know what it is from now on: a fruit. And if instead there was a red box similar to that fruit, could it be seen as such? We could tell at first glance that it is a red square, but others could say that it is a pixelated apple, or an abstract apple, or a minimalist apple; and obviously his creator saved time, energy and resources by making it, and that everyone used his imagination to name or identify it as they pleased. In my case I would call it “the square apple”.
In conceptual art I have managed to express at times my taste for the cosmic, mysterious, the allusion to life and death, social equality, the use of the mind, and even the loneliness of my characters on their eternal journey to meet with themselves. Satire has also been included in this facet of cryptoartist, where I have used the use of cartoonish resources combined with irony and sarcasm that sometimes means the simple fact of existing.
In glitch art, already well known by most, I have appreciated the beauty in distortion, in intentional errors. A beautiful visual aesthetic can be found in the perfection of the imperfect. If a software is created by man, it can be manipulated to show anomalies and failures through a visual expression according to it. And the glitch technique is still a dimension with much to explore and show, despite the years that have passed and the way the media operated at the time it was created, and it remains relevant for lovers of that style to this day.
With all this I mean that being different must be a natural condition. I do not mean that being an artist who identifies with a single style or artistic trend is trite or repetitive, because after all, everyone expresses themselves in their own way and in their art everything that protects their soul and your heart. I am referring then to getting out of the box and daring to experience the aspects that are to your liking, because at the end of the day, in essence, everything is art. And in view of the aforementioned, I can say then that apart from being eclectic, I also consider myself a mixed media artist, especially because of the breadth that I always seek to encompass when creating my works.
Being self-taught is also one of the keys. Although the foundations of traditional art are there, they have marked an era and to date continue to be important, with the evolution of communications and the transmission of information, the man who is interested in its continuous development is given the task of learn without rest, even if he reaches 130 years or as far as his conscience reaches.
I can conclude by saying that art is to be enjoyed while it is created, finished and exhibited. It is a cycle with a beginning but never an end, because once it is born it will remain in the memory of those who knew how to appreciate it and will also be part of those who took the time and part of their resources to collect it.
Thank you for reaching the end of this article, and knowing part of my essence. And if you are one of the collectors of my art, infinite thanks for your acquisition.
