Suspiro de covid
written by Eduxdux
"Suspiro" is the translation of "sigh" in English. The name was chosen because it represents the feeling I finally managed to express through my artwork. This personal milestone of "humanizing" my code, even just a little, reflects the imperfections and quirks that make us human.
This piece was born out of my experience of being quarantined with COVID-19, which left me feeling disoriented and disconnected from myself and the world around me. In search of a way to reconnect, I turned to the program, which at first only seemed to exacerbate the sense of disconnection. The virtual, mathematical world of programming felt distant and unnatural compared to the messy, imperfect reality of everyday life. But then, an idea came to me: what if I could use programming to capture the essence of everyday life, to bring the imperfections and quirks of the real world into the virtual realm? And so, I began to experiment with incorporating elements from my daily life into my code, such as the marks left by cups on wood or pens on paper. The result is this work, which I hope captures the beauty and complexity of the human experience and how we are all connected to the natural world.
