Maybe that's not so important, but what matters more is what's in it?
Sunset or sunrise.
Beginning or culmination.
All or nothing…

Point in Time is a collection of generative conceptual art comprising 105 points in time randomly scattered over a range of 105 years. Each edition is one point to which or after which the count of time is running. Becoming the owner of a point is not difficult at all; it is more difficult to catch the transition through it (through a zero value) and comprehend what this transition means for you.

Each artwork in the collection is dynamic and always displayed in its real-time. And its time will go on forever, or at least until the end of the blockchain era. Every second the piece changes, and like the flow of water or the burning of a flame, it is always different and can be contemplated endlessly.

There are 105 points in time available, each of which is randomly chosen by a generative algorithm from a temporal range of 105 years, starting from the moment the collection has been released. The probability of selecting a point from the nearest present by the algorithm is higher than the probability of selecting a point from the future, which means that the chance to pass through your Point in Time in your life is also higher; but the edition with a point located beyond the life of the current generation has significantly greater rarity. And perhaps the farther away the point is from us, the more valuable it is.

So what happens when a Point in Time passes through the zero value of the timer?

In terms of the philosophy behind the work, the owner of the piece determines for themselves what this transition means for them: the beginning of something new or the finalization of a long-term goal, a splendid sunrise or a stunning sunset, all or nothing. Point in Time is a personal milestone.

Physically, the bearer of the idea changes color and starts a new count in the other direction.

A custom palette of 18 colors grouped in three-in-one blocks has been developed for the collection; thus, the first color selected by the algorithm will change to one of the two remaining complementary colors after passing zero (but it remains unchanged as a token preview).

Every piece in the collection is a portrait of time, and that is why the canvases only have a portrait orientation, but they are varied in their aspect ratio.

Point in Time is m5alien's first generative conceptual project with a philosophical context. By exploring the nature of time, the artist creates artworks with temporal events assigned by the owners of the works. These events have not yet occurred, but they will certainly happen; and if not in this century, then undoubtedly in the next; and if not with us, then definitely with someone else ;)
