PB's 5x7.5 Collection 6/1/23
written by PapaBearded
To start this second week of 5 by X collection I began by searching objkt using the photez tag for something that caught my eye for the 1.5 tez budget.
The clean lines and soft sky in "Bridges Also Want To Hug" drew me in and I was delighted when I recognized Cicov as an active and supportive member of the community.
I really enjoyed last week's art chain, so I started down the path again, digging into the pieces Cicov had collected for something that caught my eye at 1.5 tez.
I'm a sucker for all things nature photography so the green and textures of "New Beginnings" drew me in. Dorothee is someone I recognize for having an awesome color palette and doesn't shy away from pops of color and light.
From Dorothee's collection I kept it natural with a flower that surprised me from someone I usually associate with experimental and and architectural photography: artpardini
"Natural-Abstraction#5" perhaps drew me in because I'd just collected a leaf, but also perhaps for the unexpected softness from the usual subject matter for this artist.
It seemed only fitting that from artpardini's collection I should find an architectural piece to collect. "sunset reflection" from LucanPiai drew me in, and I suppose it's unsurprising that it should be film photography.
I still feel pretty early in my personal use of film photography but there's certainly something calming and magnetic for me about some soft grain even on strong lines like in this piece.
For the final piece, I realized that I hadn't gotten a single photo with any people in it, and tended towards light and sky. The juxtaposition of this dark but thoughtful edit of people on a dark subway platform that attracted me.
"Broken" is from a photographer I don't think I was following, Aditya Putra Leksono. Part of the joy of these mini collecting sprees is finding artists I'd not encountered before. I was delighted by the message imparted by the subtle heart bubbles in this piece.
My hope is that through these collection guides I may inspire others to expand their collecting practices, expand their circles, bring more value to the NFT art scene on Tezos and ultimately lead to more money in the wallets of artists.
For these articles I'll send 5 editions out to the artists featured and list remaining to help offset the costs of collecting and hopefully enable me to keep these going on a weekly basis. Starting unreasonably low at 1 tez, it was easy to up by 50% and collect pieces at 1.5. This pace won't be infinitely scaleable but I'm looking forward to purchasing higher priced pieces in the near future!
