Art often seeks to explore the depths of human experience and perception. With "Noise", our latest generative art piece launching on fx(hash), we delve into concepts inspired by the work of Jacques Lacan, particularly his ideas on the signifier and the signified.

In Lacanian thought, the relationship btween the signifier (the material form of a sign, like a word ou image) and the signified (the concept or meaning associated with it) is not always a smooth or fixed one. Meaning isn´t simply inherent in the signifier; it´s influenced, shaped and even disrupted by "noise" or interventions within that material unit. This resonates deeply with the visual language of "Noise".

Noise

The artwork presents abstract geometric formas, yet they are not rendered with crisp, perfect lines. Instead, they are composed of dense, textured strokes, akin to weaving or stitching. This texture, this "noise", acts as the intervention on the pure form - the signifier. It´s the static that influences how we perceive and conceptualize the shape - the signified. The figures are recognizable, but the added texture gives them a new, organic, quality, suggesting that the underlying material is constantly shaping the final perceived meaning.

Through the power of generative art and the fx(hash) platforma, this concept takes on another dimension. "Noise" is being released as an open edition, meaning each collector will mint a unique interation. The specific arrangement, colors, and the subtle variations in the line work of each piece are determined by a unique hash - the digital signifier provided by the platform.

This aligns perfectly with the philosophical inspiration. Even though the underlying code (the core "sign") is the same for everyone, the specific output, influenced by the unique hash (the intervention on the signifier), results in a distinct visual meaning for each viewer.

The reality of the "sign", in this case, tha artwork, is thus a little different for each person, shaped by the unique manifestation o the signifier they receive.

"Noise" is more than just an abstract composition; it´s a visual exploration of how meaning is constructed, how the material form influences perception, and how even in a shared digital space, individual realities of an artwork can emerge.

Experience "Noise" on fx(hash) and see how the static shapes your signified.
