In the midst of financial breakdowns, international truth wars, pandemics, and other discussions driven by fear, uncertainties, and doubts, I remain hopeful about the future. We have never been as connected as we are now, and we are starting to see the contours of a dynamic global exchange of experiences, opinions, and ideas that can be free from cancel culture and that improve our path to enlightenment. This journey will be turbulent, and having access to the right tools is essential for anyone setting out to combat the elements, just as early explorers did. Publicly decentralized blockchains, where the struggles and hard work of our time can be recorded, our dreams echoed, and our failures forever preserved as tiny time capsules in the form of new algorithms, NFTs, tweets, transactions, tokens, coins, or any other digital memorabilia, are crucial for documenting our history and struggles for future generations.
These stories will reflect the actions and gestures of each one of us, whether fraudulent or kind, and will be available for future digital explorers to study. I believe the Tezos blockchain will have such a place in the future. In my view, there seems to be more genuine creativity driving the NFT projects there, in addition to the ever-present NFT flipping game. This attracted me to the Tezos ecosystem and the discovery of great artists there. On my journey, I am filled with excitement and curiosity for all that is created, and Tezos NFTs do not disappoint. Here in my little space in the NFT world, I choose to highlight and acknowledge three of my all-time favorite projects that I own pieces of.
The 3 projects
The smolskull-pattern by
The smolskull-pattern NFTs are the 'siblings' of the more acknowledged Smolskulls. These NFTs are highly underappreciated, in my opinion; not only are they fantastically diverse in terms of color, design, and visual appearance, truly showcasing the artist's skillset, but they are also very appealing to use as a easily distinguishable personal profile picture due to the formatting options available by double clicking the token. You can then reformat the image to your liking, whether as a square, desktop-style image, or any other format. Some really cool merchandise products to be made here. Double-click and test yourself.
The Breach 2021 by Frederik Vanhoutte
In my opinion, the smolskull-pattern NFTs are one of the best things to come out of 2021. When I first saw one of these NFTs on a large screen, I was truly amazed. The way the image was created in real-time, with fine pixels shaping the final image, and the ability to move around in 3D to find the optimal angle, was truly sensational. This was the moment when I realized that NFTs have the potential to be more than just static art pieces – they can be dynamic, interactive experiences. It was truly a jaw-dropping moment for me.

Take a closer look at these pieces. The tiny, carefully placed triangles of color come together to form the final shape of the token. Taking the time to appreciate the variety and complexity of each piece is time well spent. In my opinion, these simple but complex-pattern NFTs are truly underappreciated and deserve more recognition. The attention to detail and artistry that goes into creating each one is truly impressive.
For this article, I tested out an AI language model called Assistant, developed by OpenAI, to aid in the writing of this text. With its assistance, I was able to revise and improve the original text to increase its clarity and coherence (in its own words). As a way of acknowledging the model's contribution, and as they do not yet have an (at least to my knowledge Tezos address), I will be donating a portion of the royalties from this article in their name to the Processing Foundation. I invited the algoritm to close this article with a joke it made up there on the fly; here goes:
'.....Why was the NFT enthusiast's computer always running so slowly? -Because it was constantly minting! ....'
