Introducing Cognitive Canvas
written by slagrouv
The Only Open Platform on Ethereum
Cognitive Canvas is the exclusive open generative art platform on Ethereum that presents a vast market potential for artists of all levels. With low costs and a suite of remarkable features, Cognitive Canvas allows artists to effortlessly create, customize, and manage NFT collections. This platform offers the most cost-effective NFT creation experience, ensuring that artists can unlock their creativity and explore a world of possibilities in the ever-growing generative art marketplace.
Live Minting
A key aspect of Cognitive Canvas is the concept of Live Minting. This allows collectors to customize their minted items. This is similar conceptually to fxparams, though with much different implementation details.
One of the primary advantages of Cognitive Canvas is its flexibility in the design of the Live Minting user interface. Cognitive Canvas remains impartial to the appearance, functionality, or presentation of the interface, instead offering a range of hooks, libraries, and tools that facilitate the crafting of a seamless Live Minting experience. Additionally, we provide an intuitive, browser-based development environment to create the Live Minting interface, streamlining the process and ensuring a foolproof experience.
Incorporating images, videos, AI-generated assets, or virtually any parameters or data into the Live Minting UI is a breeze, empowering artists to unleash their creativity and explore vast design possibilities. As an example, crafting a QQL-like experience with Cognitive Canvas is easily achievable, opening up a world of artistic potential.
NFTs, Market Mechanisms, and Incentives
fxparams introduces an innovative market mechanism, drawing inspiration from Harberger Taxes and incorporating mint tickets. The aim is to encourage mint ticket owners to engage in the process of personalizing and creating mints, a concept we refer to as Live Minting. While these ideas are intriguing, they also present complexities that can be challenging to comprehend and potentially place a significant burden on collectors. Additionally, unforeseen consequences may arise due to the introduction of a novel market mechanism, and the resulting incentives are difficult to predict.
In our view, this approach is unnecessarily convoluted for its intended purpose, which is to motivate collectors to customize mints.
Instead, Cognitive Canvas offers a more straightforward and efficient method. Upon initially minting an item from a collection, collectors receive a standard NFT featuring a default configuration provided by the artist. This stage is akin to the Waiting to be Signed phase in fxhash, with the initial artist designed configuration being visible to the collector. Using Cognitive Canvas and the user interface furnished by the artist, collectors can personalize the mint and update the NFT with the new information at their convenience.
Mint Reserve
To stimulate customization, several incentive options are available for artists. One such option is the Mint Reserve. When an item is minted, the artist can add a Mint Reserve to the mint price. Upon customizing the mint, the reserve is reimbursed to the collector, providing a strong incentive for collectors to participate in Live Minting and create their personalized versions.
Another incentive involves imposing a time delay, after which the artist can complete a mint if the collector fails to do so.
Other Live Minting Considerations
The Live Minting process on Cognitive Canvas is very open ended. Artists have the option to incorporate browser camera photos, videos, or other user-uploaded data into the Live Minting experience. However, this does present the risk of users including inappropriate images or data, either as a prank, with malicious intent, or simply by mistake, resulting in an undesirable mint.
To address these situations, Cognitive Canvas incorporates a failsafe mechanism. A flag called canArtistOverride can be activated when publishing a collection.
When this flag is enabled, the artist has the ability to modify mints within a specified time frame after the initial minting process.
For intricate Live Mints or when user-generated data is permitted in the Live Minting process, enabling this feature is likely a prudent decision.
Modern, Royalty Protected NFTs
Cognitive Canvas incorporates the latest royalty protection features.
Recently, royalties on Ethereum have been threatened by several new players aiming to disrupt markets. Many of these emerging markets exploit artists' work for quick profits through wash trading, alt coins, and farming incentives.
To counteract this, OpenSea developed a royalty protection scheme called the operator filter registry, which blacklists specific sites. All Cognitive Canvas NFTs are automatically registered and enabled with the default registry settings.
Additionally, we integrate EIP2981, an on-chain royalty calculation mechanism supported by numerous markets.
These measures ensure the protection of royalties, both now and in the future.
Post Publishing
Once you publish a collection, you become the owner of that collection, and you need to manage the minting process for your collection. Collections initially start in a paused state, preventing minting until you unpause the collection. There are numerous options to configure before and during the minting process.
Cognitive Canvas offers fine-grained control over the minting process, boasting several unique features. It is advisable to explore these options before enabling minting. Two important features to consider are Preferred NFTs and Discount NFTs.
Preferred NFTs
You can designate other NFTs as preferred NFTs, allowing minting only for the holders of those NFTs. This feature rewards holders of specific collections, enabling you to show appreciation to your collectors.
When adding a preferred NFT, specify the maximum number of mints allowed for its holders. You can add or remove as many preferred NFTs as desired and control the minting process to achieve your intended minting experience.
Discount NFTs
Additionally, you can apply discounts for other NFT collections. You can add or remove discounted NFTs at any time, and the holders of these NFTs will receive a discounted price.
Discounted NFTs work alongside Preferred NFTs. If a preferred NFT also has a discount, the discounted price will be used.
Open Editions
By setting a large Max Total Mints value and adding an end date to your collection, you can create an Open Edition.
Dutch Auctions
You can adjust the price during the minting process to simulate a Dutch Auction.
OpenSea Integration
Cognitive Canvas features seamless integration with OpenSea. By adhering to our guidelines, there is no need for any additional steps to have a fully configured collection on OpenSea from the moment you unpause your collection for minting. For those coming from fxhash, this saves a significant amount of time and effort, allowing you to appreciate the results of your work without spending extra time deciphering OpenSea's functionality.
Very Low Costs
Utilizing the highly efficient OpenZeppelin Clones library, Cognitive Canvas offers the most cost-effective NFT creation platform on Ethereum. With the current average gas cost (18 gwei) and ETH price ($1820), the expense of creating a collection is merely around $20. It is essential to note that you receive a comprehensive ERC721 with all the added features of Cognitive Canvas, and you own the contract. Upon comparison with other platforms, it is clear that none can match the low costs provided by Cognitive Canvas.
Calling All Artists
Cognitive Canvas serves as the exclusive open generative art platform on Ethereum, presenting a vast market potential for artists. Its combination of affordable pricing and outstanding features makes it an obvious choice for artists at any stage, from novices to seasoned professionals.
