Medieval cats were not poorly drawn, they were actually a representation of a species of mutants. We see them here, fighting soldiers using genetically modified rats transformed into biomechanical weapons able to shoot laser through their eyes.
We can also see they are using Jetpacks, a thing that has already been documented in other paintings. Maybe future discoveries will allow us to know more about this mystery and why it has been hidden from the public.
