01. News

- Interviews interviews interviews

It's been a week of interviews! Our discussion with former collaborator, jeres, just dropped this week, and also got nearly two hours (pre-edit) on the books with infamous collector lonliboy.

We also did some live radio with kenconsumer on his show Arbitrarily Deterministic. Definitely check it out for some chiller conversation than we might typically have on WTBS.

- Italy trip update

The Deposition from the Cross, Jacopo Pontormo

Trinity's trip to Tuscany was a bit tempered by a bout of covid, but she enjoyed the non-ill parts very much! One highlight of Florence was seeing The Deposition from the Cross, which can be seen in the Church of Santa Felicita. Thanks to Emil from EmProps for the recommendation!

- Diablo 4 beta

If you're reading this before March 26, you're in luck -- the Diablo 4 open beta is free and ready to play! If you see us (more likely Will) less active on Discord this weekend that is probably why. Try it out and let us know what you think.

- Params is out!

fxparams is finally released with several projects already using the feature. We discuss some of the work leveraging params in the "Projects of the week" section of this article; definitely jump ahead to check it out if that is your jam.

We assume that if you're reading this you already know quite a bit about it, but if not fxhash released a handy tweet going over the feature:

We also reference this tweet from Piter Pasma. A bit above our head but educational nonetheless!

- Here & Now

The Here & Now event is also live alongside params. We are still working through the experience, but it is very cool and takes us back to our days playing Half-Life 3 and similar games.

If you have a coin (or three) you can access the experience on their website. If you don't but are interested, purchase from the primary only - there is a good chance that those available on the secondary market have already been used.

- achromat re-issue

project name project name project name

As posited in our interview with Landlines, he has set up a nifty custom contract using the params feature to allow holders of the original achromat (which no longer loads) to claim a new version that has no external dependencies. Connect your wallet to the claims site created by Landlines to receive your new token.

02. Market index update

- Kim Asendorf on Art Blocks Curated

Still from Cargo #0

The legendary Kim Asendorf is releasing a new 1000 edition project, Cargo, on Art Blocks on March 29. With a starting price 3 eth going down to 0.1, we are both thinking about buying in and curious about its market performance.

Be sure to use the "Explore possibilities" feature on AB to see more iterations -- the variety in Cargo is absolutely insane, resulting in one of Asendorf's strongest pieces yet.

- Express Yourself in a WTBS logo

Macintosh has created a very fun project with params that enables everyone and anyone to be a graphic designer! One of our goals this year was to create a new podcast logo, and this is the perfect opportunity. We have an unofficial non-contest running, and anyone who wants to submit a param is very welcome to do so.

03. Pick-ups of the week

- Will's secondary purchases

Will broke open the vault this week and went absolutely ham on some big pieces. First up was an accepted 500 tez offer on a floor Fragments of a Wave #384. It's been quite awhile since a Frag went for such a great price. We also mention #84 as another exemplary piece on the market (although above floor).

Will also purchased a t4ns4ctions by Kim Asendorf on offer for just 300 tez, which is on the heels of an astounding 600 tez purchase of monogrid 1.1 CE by kenconsumer. Monogrid currently holds a floor of 1.5k.

Will rounded out his amazing pick-ups of the week with a Take Wing sold on offer for 40% below floor. It all goes to show the strength of a decent offer in this declining market.

- Trinity's pick-up considerations

Given her busy week after traveling, Trinity didn't take too much of a gander at the secondary market. That said, there are some pieces that are starting to look like good deals, including the floor of A Center Near the Edges and Study in atom.

04. Projects of the week

- YYYSEED

project name project name project name

Params came out of the gate strong this week with revdancatt's YYYSEED, which was a perfect fit for the new feature. Not only is YYYSEED plottable, but the parameters help dictate the type of pen / marker to plot a piece. Although there was some early confusion, especially around the "danger seed" setting, Dan released two articles on fxtext to help collectors out.

- Agave & Patchwork

project name project name project name

Artist teaboswell's introduction to params is the third project in the Patchwork series. Like YYYSEED, there can be quite a difference between seeds of the same parameters but it is still quite fantastic. A ton of variety can be achieved through the available params, which is evident in the minted outputs.

- pxlshrd

pxlshrd also released a params project this week, with a very helpful accompanying fxtext article. Limbic Vortex is a wonderful representation of the brains connections at varying levels, although pieces that have more complexity (i.e., more layers) can be slow to render when working in the parametric space. There are still a few left to mint; do not miss out.

- Klangteppich

Andreas Rau's Bright Moment's project, Klangteppich, is an astounding feat of visuals, sound, and, if you invest an extra 1,000 tez, weaving. Still very much available, the ability to get a physical tapestry of the still of your choice is an interesting prospect indeed.

To learn more, listen to Andreas discuss the piece on Arbitrarily Deterministic:

05. Looking ahead

- Schwere See

project name project name project name

Flockaroo is finally back on fxhash, more than one year later, and we are gobsmackingly delighted to see it! Schwere See will already be live by the time this episode airs, but we are incredibly excited to see such an impressive release in this market and eagerly await to see both the full set of outputs and its market performance. Fingers crossed!

- Landlines

Would it be a WTBS "Looking Ahead" section without a project from Landlines? No, probably not. Our former interviewee has been teasing this work for quite awhile, and now we know that it's been waiting for params to go live. We don't know (yet) when it will be released, but knowing Landlines it will be soon.

- Hear us on Arbitrarily Deterministic

We know we already plugged this at the top of this article, but don't forget to check out the latest episode of kenconsumer's incredibly excellent podcast, Arbitrarily Deterministic. If you like what he's doing (which you should), send him a token of your appreciation at "idontlikepodcasts.tez."

That's it for this episode, everyone; thank you for listening! If you like what we're doing, the best way for you to support our efforts is to smash that "collect" button at the bottom (and top) of this article. Every donation and collection is incredibly appreciated.

Have an excellent rest of your day.
